Lions, and Tigers, and Firetrucks? Oh My!

11:08 PM
For our latest family fun day we decided to squeeze two things into one day.  The day started off with a trip to the zoo.  We asked the kids what they wanted to see... Ian wanted to see a lion;  Nate wanted to see a white house, Lightning McQueen, and a dragon.  (It turns out that the giraffes ended up being Nate's favorite.)

After the zoo we came home, took a nap, and then went to the Fire Station for part 2 of our family fun day.  A father that works in our student ministry department also volunteers for the local fire department.  Each year they host an event for our 6th graders at the fire station.  Tavis and I spoke to the 6th graders and afterward, our kids got to go out and play on the fire trucks.  (This was a dream come true for Nate who LOVES fire trucks!  Although, Ian liked it very much as well.)

So here are some pictures from our little endeavors.

ZOO PICTURES

The boys are looking at the giraffes.

Ian was having a great time on top of the fake gorillas.  He was afraid of the real ones.

Clara was such a sweet girl while we were there.
She had a mild breakdown in the middle of the trip and then fell right to sleep.

A very nice lady saw me trying to take a picture of all of us and volunteered to take this for us.

FIRE STATION

Both of my boys got to actually start the fire truck and turn on the lights.  They loved it.
(They are still talking about it.)

In this picture the boys are sitting in the firemen seats in the backseat of the truck.

Nate was hilarious with the ax.  It was as big as he was.  He kept saying, "Whoa, it heeeaaa--vy."

Here are my boys sitting on the back of one of the fire trucks.

The boys got to climb on the top of the truck, too.
They walked all the way across.
They had a great day.
(Tavis had just as much fun as the little boys.)
